The last few years have been some really hard years for everyone, and now we’re living through rising inflation rates, tensions between countries, and the COVID (still).
But through all of this, the one thing that has really taken on a new importance is wellness and taking care of ourselves. More than ever, people are focusing on their mental wellbeing, self-care, and being more mindful.
Let’s find out what’s trending in the wellness space for 2022.
- Gut Health
- Sexual Wellness
- Face and Body Massages
- Skin Health from the Inside
- Creating a Sanctuary
Gut Health
The years 2020 and 2021 were all about immunity, but now we’re seeing a rising interest in gut health. We’ve all heard of probiotics, but did you know that prebiotics are a thing too? Your gut is the foundation of everything in your body. It influences your overall health (nutrient absorption, metabolism) and skin complexion.
Sexual Wellness and Reproductive Health
We’re not talking about what you think here (wink), although that’s also a hot topic in 2022. We’re talking about infertility, low libido, and menopause becoming more visible and talked about (finally). Life – and pleasure – shouldn’t stop, ever. There are reputable apps and a community of therapists and physicians on the rise helping people join the conversation and get the support they need.
Face and Body Massages
All over Instagram, we’re seeing people either gua sha-ing their face or doing some sort of lymphatic massage on their body. This is one trend we’re here for. It’s all about intuitive movement and doing the small things in your daily life that will have the greatest impact over time. There’s a reason why lymphatic drainage has been part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. If you’re going to apply oil, then why not slow it down and add a gua sha?
Skin Health from the Inside
Are you stressed out? Your skin can show it. More people are embracing the inside-out approach to skincare – not only because of stress but also because they’re finally realizing they don’t need a 10-step skincare routine to give their skin what it really needs. We live by the mantra “less is more,” using only the essentials. Do this in conjunction with some destressing, mindful movements, and healthy eating – and watch your skin (and mental health) improve oh so effortlessly.
Creating a Sanctuary
This is the era of working from home, when we aren’t out and about or going in into the office as much. The home has become the new sanctuary. Not sure how to create a proper sanctuary? Refresh your furniture, declutter your spaces, add meaningful touches, and create a Zen zone – think candles, mists, and a really good book.
